A good friend once told me that every flower must break through layers upon layers of dirt before it can bloom.
This series is about the journey of courage, strength and persistence even through the darkest of times.
I was interested in working with the body as a canvas and creating the illusion that the body had images painted or projected onto the skin. The poses showcase the upward movement of energy, similar to a flower breaking through the ground in the spring. Each image is titled with the Latin name of the flower or plant that is encasing the model, many of which are native to or were photographed in Alaska.
This series is ongoing.
